Comparison atau bentuk perbandingan merupakan kata sifat yang digunakan untuk menyatakan tingkat perbandingan.
Nah, dalam Bahasa Inggris ada digunakan tiga Comparison atau Bentuk Perbandingan, apa saja?
1. Positive Degree (Tingkatan Biasa)
2. Comparative Degree (Tingkatan Lebih)
3. Superlative Degree (Tingkatan Paling)

1. Positive Degree
Positive Degree atau Tingkatan Biasa merupakan kata sifat yang digunakan untuk menyatakan bahwa suatu benda atau orang, dalam keadaan sama dengan yang lainnya.
Susunan kalimat untuk Positive Degree ini dibentuk dengan menempatkan kata sifat (adjectives) diantara dua as.
S + to be + as + adjective + as
Contoh :
- She is as tall as her aunt. (Dia sama tinggi dengan bibinya)
- Lion is as wild as tiger. (Singa adalah sama buasnya dengan harimau)
2. Comparative Degree
Comparative Degree atau Tingkatan Lebih digunakan untuk menyatakan bahwa keadaan suatu benda atau orang lebih dari yang lainnya, dan berikut adalah rumus pembentukan kalimat untuk Comparative Degree:
S + to be + comparative + than
Keterangan:
- Untuk kata sifat (adjectives) pendek yang terdiri dari satu atau dua suku kata, tambahkan akhiran 'er' lalu gabungkan dengan kata 'than'.
- Untuk kata sifat ( adjectives ) yang lebih panjang (lebih dari dua suku kata) didahului dengan kata 'more' sebelum kata sifat, kemudian diikuti dengan kata 'than'.
Contoh :
- Tia's house is larger than Fatima's house. (Rumah Tia lebih luas daripada rumah Fatima)
- Magazine is more interesting than newspaper.(Majalah lebih menarik daripada koran.)
3. Superlative Degree
Superlative Degree atau Tingkatan Paling, digunakan untuk menyatakan bahwa suatu benda atau orang adalah yang paling dibanding lainnya.
S + to be + the superlative
Keterangan:
- Untuk kata sifat (adjectives) yang terdiri dari satu atau dua suku kata, dahului dengan kata sandang 'the'.
- Untuk kata sifat (adjectives) yang lebih dari dua suku kata, dahului dengan kata "most" sebelum kata sifat itu, yang sebelumnya didahului dengan kata sandang 'the'.
Contoh :
- Arga is the tallest in the class.(Arga adalah yang tertinggi di kelasnya)
- Queen is the most favourite rock band in the world. (Queen adalah band rock terfavorit di dunia)
